Steps for Better Time Management

Professional lives have become very busy and fast paced today and it is all because of multitasking slowly creeping in our lifestyles. While some of us juggle all the chores like a pro, some fail to set their mind in all directions. You might be surprised to know that there is n rocket science in being able to handle all your tasks, only if you abide by a single rule - TIME MANAGEMENT. If your life is still alien to this concept, worry not as it is never too late to make time management a part of your lives with some quick and rewarding steps.

Learn to Delegate Tasks
While you might find satisfaction in doing all your work yourself, wisdom lies in understanding that a human body and brain has its limitations, whatsoever. When you realize that it becomes easier for to trust people to help you with your work and by dividing the entire task into achievable chunks. This also tends to expedite the work and leaves less room for errors, the end result being a significant increase in the overall productivity rate.

Prioritize
This is one of the most important steps to keep in mind if you intend to avoid a hotchpotch of chores in your professional life. Any business has plenty of tasks every day; some of utter importance and some needing less attention. When the former will come first, time will be divided efficiently and you would not have to pay a price for ignoring important assignments. By prioritizing, every task will be bound to get its due time and consideration.

Mark Deadlines
This is a step necessary to keep yourself on track. With all so much to do in a business, it is very easy to always be distracted by something or the other. However, when you know that something needs to be done at a given time, it is easier to keep your focus intact. This minimizes the wastage of time. Also, it is important to reward yourself once the deadline is met you next time there is an incentive to finish the work by within a specific time frame.

The Speed Breaker
By ‘speed’ here we refer to your flow and speed of work. The thought that working tirelessly and without a break would get more done is nothing but an illusion. When you work constantly, you tend to get tired leaving a negative impact on your productivity level. If you want to get more done and that too efficiently, it is necessary to take some time off to refresh your mind. Studies suggest that people with proper sleep have higher efficiency levels.

Bid Farewell to Procrastination
This step is of utter importance because if procrastination exists, the measures suggested above would be of no use. It is very important to know the value of time and what it means to any business. This is a measure necessary to have maximum gains of all the steps mentioned above. Once procrastination is avoided, the rest mostly falls in place.

It might take some effort to incorporate these changes in your life but be rest assured that the advantages of managing your time are par the inconvenience you might face changing your life style.

Lists You Need to Manage Your Time

1. My Schedule. This is for the entire year, day by day.

2. Things-to-Do List. This is a basic “Things-to-Do” list organized by month, week, and day, prioritized as As, Bs and Cs.

3. People-to-Call List. My third list is a “People-to-Call” list, also prioritized alphabetically.

4. Conference Planner. This is just a page for each person I interact with a lot, where I jot down things I need to talk to them about as they occur to me in between meetings or conversations.

THE BIG PROBLEM WITH BUSINESS

IMG_9572.JPG

# “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care” – Theodore Roosevelt

The world of entrepreneurship requires deep personal development, and if done the wrong way one may experience more negativity than any human should have to endure.

The good news is that YOUR story can have a happy ending.

The point is, I’m about to cast some heavy stones at some networkers, but that doesn’t mean we haven't made those mistakes. It means that we realize the faux pas that sometimes comes with networking, and building your business.

Something people fail to remember…

I once heard that success in business is all about ‘time’ and ‘place’. As a professional marketer, I would add ‘message’ to the equation as well.

Unfortunately, network marketers today are being taught online prospecting methods, which include the wrong message, at the wrong time and most definitely in all the wrong places! (Trust me, even professional marketers have been there!)

Here’s the truth!

There is a VERY fine line between prospecting business on social media and spamming people. I’m sorry to say that most network marketers have been turned into human spam bots. (Most unknowingly...again been there.)

Successful entrepreneurs and networkers alike eventually learn the true secret to success and it becomes the foundation upon which their entire prospecting, recruiting and business building strategy is founded.

That secret being:

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care” – Theodore Roosevelt

Building a business is not about tricking people or finding the right copy/paste FB messages to send to strangers.

It’s about actually caring about people, becoming a person of value and being someone uniquely positioned to help someone with their problems.

That last one is critical “uniquely positioned to help someone with their problems.”

This is what sets you apart from the rest of the desperate reps hitting people’s inboxes with their new “ground floor” opportunities or cash opportunities.

So how do you know the difference between SHARING your business, and spamming people? It is a fine line.

Ask yourself:

Do you engage in interactions online, with a hidden agenda, hoping to transition the topic to something that would get people interested in your opportunity, without caring about knowing the other person?

In the marketing & business world, we are taught that “everyone is a prospect” and therefore we are taught to approach every conversation with a hidden agenda.

This is WRONG!

The problem with building your business (as it’s normally taught) is that the mindset going in with! It is still about what YOU want people to do and about manipulating people into doing what you want them to do.

False.

It SHOULD about actually caring about people, becoming a person of value and being someone uniquely positioned to help someone with their problems.

Once you change your mindset, you change your engagement, you change your business.

Women In Business

IMG_9303.JPG

I know I tend to write a lot about women in the workplace. Why? Not because women are any more important than men. I have worked with some brilliant men. So why? It’s simple. First, I am a woman in business. Second, I think many women underestimate themselves when it comes to being successful in the business world. Even though women today do not face the same obstacles women faced 50 years ago, for many women it is still an uphill battle. Some may argue this fact, however, I can tellyou from experience that women have a unique set of circumstances to overcome to be successful. A majority of leadership roles are filled by men, however, female participation is great for the economy. In fact, businesses that include women in leadership roles, and on boards do better. The reason is clear. Diversity. It is healthy to look at things diversely, especially in business.
