Our very own, Tiffany Fields, wrote the following geared towards salons. However, we can read between the lines and it an encompass just about all service-based businesses. Leaders are those who do the right thing even when no one is watching, they are the ones who pick up the pieces others leave behind, and they are the ones who succeed. The purpose of what you’re going to read below is that YOU, the one busting your rear to climb to the top, you’re the one who matters. Not those who are trying to bring down the moral of the entire team by complaining, gossiping, and not doing their job. Sometimes it’s hard to keep motivated when it seems like your hard work goes unnoticed and the negativity gets the attention in the workplace. Keep up the good work, we see you…

Have you ever worked in a salon where it's constant complaining & nagging?

Did you feel like it brought you and the entire team down?

Was there always someone complaining about the person who didn't fold the towels...WHY? Why is this such a complaint in the salon?

Just fold the towels...

Those who are the most successful are the ones folding the towels while the others are complaining about those who didn't do so...

We're always going to have complainers, gossipers, those who like to bring others down. It's how you handle it that matters.

That client sees you folding the towels while the other stands there complaining someone else didn't, that client sees you being the professional & not gossiping, that client sees you not complaining about doing your job & maybe someone else's. That client will be yours...along with the next one...and the next one, and. the. next. one.

You see, getting the client is about so much more than your technical skills. Getting the client means holding your head high, doing the right thing when those around you aren't, being optimistic, being thankful for your career even when you're just folding towels...

One day you will be too busy to do the laundry. One day the gossiper and complainer will be wondering why they haven't grown in their career, why they are still the ones just folding towels instead of creating art... You see, folding the towels will lead you to big things...

Just. fold. the. towels...or schedule that appointment…or take that phone call…or do what’s right even when all those around you are slacking…
